Zamoras

Bonano races out in front of our table this week with yet another clean sheet, and the Argentine international has contributed greatly to plugging the holes in Barcelona's defence. It is over 10 years since Zubizarreta last won the Zamora trophy for the Catalan club, but maybe this year they are on for it. Zero goals against for another six keepers this weekend, including Prats and López Vallejo, who join Nacho González in second place. Notario, who joins the group on +3 and Unzué, a goal behind. The other two were Valencia's Palop, who once again will give Cañizares a hard fight when he returns from injury, and Rayo's Lopetegui, who is keeping out Imanol Etxeberria.

Espanyol's injured keeper Argensó decided to take pain-killing injections to enable him to play at snow covered Alavés, but must have rued the decision after rashly getting himself sent off in the first half (see villains section for more details). Mora took over in goal for the second half. The bobo prize of the week though goes to Atlético Madrid's Toni, who was finally given an opportunity to prove himself with Mono Burgos away on international duty. His side were finally defeated after a run of five wins in a row thanks to two mistakes by him in the second half, the second of which appeared on televisions around the world. Murcia's Godino fired a high ball up into the air from the halfway line, which would have gone five yards wide of the goal if Toni had not somehow fisted it back towards his own net. To make matters worse he scrambled after it desperately on hands and knees as it slowly trickled in to the goal. Expect to see Burgos back next week. (12.11.01)
