Prats
moves to the top of our chart this week after another sterling performance
helped his side to move back up to share the leadership of the first division
with Real Madrid. His was one of six clean sheets on yet another low scoring
day, with 20 goals in all in the ten first division games. Bonano moves back up
to third after he single-handedly (well, double-handedly really) saved
Barcelona from a worse fate at Villarreal, and Aragoneses proved that, if
nothing else, they certainly have good goalkeepers in the Canary Islands. He
and his opposite number Ricardo were the stars as Valladolid and Tenerife drew
0-0 in sub-zero temperatures. Celta's Cavallero saved a vital penalty as his
team went on to defeat Zaragoza, and Sevilla's Notario kept out leaders
Alavés in their surprise away win at Vitoria. Real Sociedad's Alberto
sent a message to his manager that it wasn't really necessary to sign
Liverpool's Sander Westerveld with a magnificent performance, although he still
let in three goals against Real Madrid and the Dutch keeper is still on his
way. Finally Rayo's Imanol Etxeberria returned to his side for the visit to his
old club Athletic Bilbao. Some Bilbao fans must be wondering why they sold him
as his replacement Lafuente gave away a silly goal, although he did make up for
it with some fine saves throughout the match. (17.12.01) |
