Not a good week for keepers,
with 33 goals scored this weekend, the highest of the season. Second placed
Cavallero was on the end of four of them, as was Mallorca's Roa, who's opposite
number Notario was a mere spectator throughout the game. Prats only let in one,
but Cañizares went one better in Valencia's 2-0 victory over Barcelona,
and closes to within a goal of the leader. Two more clean sheets as well as
Cañizares and Notario, starting with Deportivo's Molina who some people
are saying should return to Camacho's squad. He saved a vital penalty from
Juventus striker Del Piero in the midweek Champions League game, and has been
instrumental in his side's success this season. The man currently in possession
of Spain's third goalkeeping shirt, Valladolid's Ricardo, put in a good
performance as his team beat Bilbao 2-0, although a couple of big scores
against him earlier in the season means he doesn't feature in our chart.
Finally a mention for Nacho González, who lost touch with the leaders
after letting in three more at Espanyol, but at least had the consolation to
score his third of the season from the penalty spot. Could he be the first man
ever to feature in both the Zamora and Pichichi tables?
