Penalty saves were the order
of the day, with two of the league's top sides frustrated (temporarily at
least) by the opposing minders. Both happened within a few minutes of each
other on Sunday, with Tenerife's Julio Iglesias diving to stop the kick from
Deportivo's Diego Tristán and Osasuna's Unzué frustrating
Valencia's Baraja. In the end though Depor and Valencia won. Prats moves clear
at the top of our chart after the Sevillian derby ended without goals, a result
which also helps Notario move up a couple of places. Contreras comes back in to
our table after his side also drew 0-0 against Imanol Etxeberria's Rayo
Vallecano. A clean sheet too for Real Sociedad's Westerveld, his second in a
row to take his side reasonably clear of the relegation spots. Elsewhere there
was a change of keepers at Espanyol's Montjuic stadium, where the eccentric
Argensó returned to the home side in place of Mora, and the unfortunate
Kike had to be carried off the field early on when he broke his nose in an
accidental clash with Pacheco. Kike was on the verge of breaking back in to our
rankings, but he is likely to be out now for a couple of weeks or so and will
give up his place once again to Herrera. (25.03.02) |
