A good week for some keepers
and bad for others. Julio Iglesias cried off and left Sergio Aragoneses having
to take over as stand-in for Tenerife's game at Real Madrid. Not a good day to
make your come back, and he got hit for four by Figo and the boys. Westerveld
and López Vallejo both let in three as their respective teams Real
Sociedad and Villarreal slid back towards the relegation zone, and a fully
recovered Bonano returned to Barcelona's line up as they lost at Celta. There
were however seven clean sheets, two of which came in the 0-0 draw between
Málaga (Contreras) and Mallorca (Leo Franco). The clubs have a common
shareholder, and they at least avoided having to pay out a win bonus with this
result. The battle for the Zamora continues, with both Prats and
Cañizares keeping out the opposition. If things stay as they are, Prats
should just edge it thanks to the higher number of games played. Elsewhere
Imanol Etxeberria recorded another clean sheet, his second in a row, to help
Rayo out of the relegation spots, and Ricardo (Valladolid) and Notario
(Sevilla) both did the same to ensure first division football for their
respective clubs next season. (22.04.02) |
