The worst week of the season for our 'porteros', 39 goals against in ten games, with Aranzubia and López Vallejo being hit for four and Julio Iglesias, sneaking back having ducked the Real Madrid game, copping a handful, five of the best from Valladolid. Just when you thought it was safe.....

Even so three of our brave boys, Cavallero (Celta), Westerveld (Real Sociedad) and Notario (Sevilla) managed to keep clean sheets, which at this time of the season is very welcome. Poor old Leo Franco didn't make it past the half hour mark though. He fell foul of Joao Tomas and referee Carmona Méndez and was showered and down the pub before the rest of the team were back in the changing rooms. Youngster Miki was once again his stand in.
