There was re-make of the
"Wrath of Kahn" midweek, but this time instead of captain James Kirk it was
quartermaster Iker Casillas who was in the firing line. The German keeper was
in a foul mood after letting in three goals against Spain, and refused to swap
shirts with his opposite number. The PR boys sorted it out later on though,
with Kahn being ordered to volunteer to send his jersey to the snubbed Real
Madrid keeper.
Spain's number two keeper
Cañizares stayed on the bench for that match, but was back at the top of
the Zamora chart after Valencia beat Málaga 2-0 on Saturday night, and
Sevilla's Notario let in two against Athletic the following day. Saturday was a
good day in fact for Champions League keepers, with both Juanmi and Bonano
keeping clean sheets in their respective games. Casillas was not so lucky on
Sunday, and it was his opposite number Sanzol who came away with the honours.
Three other keepers also
kept their goals against column to zero this weekend, including Dutruel
(Alavés), Aranzubia (Athletic), and Racing's Lemmens for the second week
in a row (he could be in our charts very soon if he keeps it up). Finally
Atlético's Esteban returned to the field of play as Mono Burgos was
suffering from flu. Whether Don Luis would have picked him anyway after last
week's cock up is a point for conjecture. (19.02.03) |
