Valencia's Santiago
Cañizares moves clear at the top of our chart after another convincing
performance against Real Madrid. He can thank his defence in part though, after
they prevented the "galactic" strike force from getting much of a sight on
goal. Cañi's clean sheet was only one of eight though as the keepers got
back on top. Reina saved a penalty to help Villarreal keep up their 12 game
unbeaten record this season, and both Sevilla based keepers Contreras and
Notario were instrumental in their sides' single goal victories. Ex Mallorca
keeper Roa contributed to Albacete's first win of the season, and Aranzubia put
in another claim for Spain's third goalkeeping spot in the Basque derby against
Real Sociedad. Three keepers shared in the spoils of the first ever 0-0 draw
between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona in the Calderón stadium, as
Burgos had to be replaced by Juanma in the local goal after injuring himself at
the break. Víctor Valdés was the busiest of the three though
after his side had two men sent off. (29.09.03) |
