Zamoras

Although there were 25 goals in the ten games this weekend, no less than nine keepers kept clean sheets. Cañizares was one of those and he thereby ends a mini-crisis where Valencia let in four goals in only two matches! The world is coming to an end! Molina and Lainez join Sanzol in joint second place, the former after his side's goal-less draw at Juanmi's Murcia and the latter after a 0-2 win at Espanyol. Casillas put in one of the best performances by a keeper all season to keep his goals against column to zero, and Reina, Ricardo, Bizzarri and youngster Calatayud all kept out the opposition as their teams won their respective matches.

Only one keeper didn't make it to the end of the 90 minutes, Albacete's Roa getting shown a red card after bringing down Valladolid's Makukula in the last minute. With all three changes already made, Cristian Díaz became the third outfield player to put on a goalkeeper's jersey this season, something of a record at this early stage of the season. He only had to pick Losada's penalty out of the back of the net though and the game was over, luckily for him. (03.11.03)

PS. We forgot to mention that Atlético's Juanma came in for Burgos at the last moment after the ageing rock star aggravated an old injury fooling around with Simeone in the pre-match warm up. The years roll on.....
