A couple of keepers got
knocked around a bit in another relatively high scoring weekend. In particular
Zaragoza's Lainez and Sevilla's Esteban who were on the receiving end of a 4-4
draw, and Bizzarri (Valladolid) and Aragoneses (Atlético) who were hit
for three. Only three clean sheets in all, including Celta's Cavallero who
recorded his fourth in a row, helping Celta to within a point of escaping the
relegation zone. Albacete's Almunia was a key contributor as his side moved a
little bit further away from the drop zone, and Reina aided Villarreal in their
attempt to return to the UEFA cup for next season. They are of course still in
this year's competition, and the young keeper is hitting the headlines after
going nine home games in Europe this season without letting in a goal.
Elsewhere Betis keeper Prats was in the news after saving two penalties against
Real Sociedad, and Sánchez Broto returned to the Murcia side for the
first time since week nine. (26.04.04) |
