No less than five changes on
the goalkeeping front this weekend, the most notable being the replacement of
an off-form Cañizares by Palop at Valencia. It didn't do a lot of good
though as the Chés lost at home to Deportivo, for whom Munúa got
another run out in the absence of Molina.
As it happened, none of the
other three changes were successful either, with for example Osasuna's Sanzol
making his return against Real Madrid in place of Elía and dropping a
wet ball at the feet of Helguera for him to score a late winner.
With Luis García
suspended and Lainez and Zaparain both injured, fourth choice keeper
Rubén Falcón got the nod ahead of B team keeper Miguel in
Zaragoza's starting line up, but within two minutes he let in a silly own goal
(Toledo said he forgot that Falcón was left footed!), and they went on
to lose 1-4.
Valbuena returned from a
long injury to take over from Gaspercic at Albacete (just after the Belgian
keeper had finally made it to our chart!), but his side were beaten 2-1 in
their relegation struggle at Mallorca.
And finally Sergio
Aragoneses made his first appearance since returning to Getafe during the
winter transfer window, but he only had time to face up to a penalty and pick
the ball out of the net after Sánchez Broto had been sent off in injury
time against Espanyol.
Four keepers did manage
clean sheets though this weekend, Leo Franco and Mora in Atlético's 0-0
draw with Levante, Kameni in Espanyol's aforementioned win over Getafe, and
Arnau in Málaga's victory at Numancia, his fourth now in five games.
