Víctor Valdés
opened up a bit of daylight between himself and Casillas this weekend after
both were on either end of 2-0 scorelines. Leo Franco let in his first goal in
just over 500 minutes of league and cup football against Villarreal, whilst his
team mate Fernando Torres made a bit of a mess of Reina's fantastic home
record. It was the lowest scoring weekend since day 10 though, with only 21
goals against and no less than nine clean sheets including that of
Valdés. and Casillas's opposite number Aranzubia. Betis's Doblas and
Racing's Aouate both contributed to their sides' respective victories, and
there were two score-less draws, between Mora's Levante and Luis
García's Zaragoza, and between Getafe and Osasuna, where Aragoneses took
over from the suspended Sánchez Broto and Elía replaced the
injured Sanzol. Aragoneses is likely to get a longer run in goal though as
Sánchez Broto damaged knee ligaments in training midweek. (21.02.05)
