Two goalkeepers were in the
news this weekend but for the wrong reasons. Getafe could well have recorded a
valuable away win at Betis were it not for "butterfingers" Aragoneses, who let
a Marcos Assunçao free kick slip through his hands in to the net. The
on-loan Atlético Madrid keeper was also at fault when Betis scored their
first, coming out of his goal but failing to reach Joaquín's free kick
and allowing Rivas to score. His mistake was nothing though compared to Spanish
under 21 keeper Moyà, who dived to stop the ball going out for a corner
and only succeeded in pulling it back to Real Sociedad striker Gari Uranga, who
gratefully ran it in to the net unchallenged. Luckily for him his side
recovered to take the three points.
Only four clean sheets this
weekend, including one for Víctor Valdés at Osasuna. He opened
the gap to four points over his closest rival Casillas, who recovered quicker
than expected from his injury and was able to play at Valencia.
Cañizares returned to Antonio López's side for that match. Clean
sheets too for Atlético's Leo Franco, Zaragoza's Luis García and
Deportivo's Munúa, who continues to deputize for Molina who is out with
a bad back. Elsewhere Numancia's Juanma (also ex Atlético) makes it in
to our chart for the first time after helping bottom club Numancia to a four
game unbeaten run. They may not score too many goals, but their defence is not
that bad. (07.03.05) |
