The battle for the league
title is reflected in the race for the league's top goalkeeper, with
Víctor Valdés and Iker Casillas both recording clean sheets as
their respective sides won 2-0. Valdés has not let a goal in for three
games, and with Leo Franco conceding one he is now three goals clear of the two
Madrid based keepers.
Three other clean sheets
this weekend as well, including Reina, who has been strongly linked with a move
to Liverpool this summer. If he does go, Cañizares could be tempted to
make the short journey to Villarreal after being left out of Valencia's side
for the second week in a row. Reina did let three goals in against Osasuna
midweek though, and so drops further behind the leaders.
Sevilla's Notario is also
doing well, and he has now only conceded three goals since taking over from
Esteban six games ago. His side's 2-0 win over Deportivo took them up to third
and a possible Champions League spot for next season. Finally Arnau also kept
his goals against column to zero in Málaga's 0-1 win at Levante, a
result which cost local manager Bernd Schuster his job. (02.05.05)
