Zamoras

As expected, Víctor Valdés won the Zamora prize this season, the first Barcelona keeper to take the trophy since the legendary Zubizarreta did so some ten years or so ago. Valdés was once again rested for the last game in order not to have any late hiccups, Jorquera taking over between the sticks in his side's 0-0 draw at Riesgo's Real Sociedad. There were clean sheets as well for Kameni (Espanyol), Arnau (Málaga), Aouate (Racing) and Palop (Valencia) in an exciting last day in which Villarreal (Reina) and Betis (Prats) clinched the two remaining Champions League places. Some of the sides had little to play for though, and Pindado (Albacete), Cuéllar (Atlético) and Dani Mallo (Deportivo) were given their first games of the season as a result. (30.05.05)
