With all the big name
keepers around in Spain, it is a bit of a surprise that Racing Santander's Dudu
Aouate is currently heading the Zamora chart. The Cantabrians are to say the
least not one of La Liga's fancied sides, and Aouate himself was not expected
to hold down a first team place with the arrival of Toño. But there he
still is, and a clean sheet against Aranzubia's Athletic Bilbao takes him two
points clear at the top.
All in all it was an average
weekend, although current and former Betis keepers Doblas and Prats were both
hit for four. Three keepers managed clean sheets as well as Aranzubia and
Aouate, including Real Madrid's Casillas, the first time that his side has kept
the goals against column to zero this season in the league. Getafe's Luis
García is helping towards his side's most successful season ever, and
Osasuna's Ricardo had little work against Cádiz, even seeing a penalty
shoot wide of his post. (26.09.05) |
