A strange round of league matches this weekend, with the first eight games all resulting in home wins, seven of which ended without the visitors scoring a goal. Palop (Sevilla), Víctor Valdés (Barcelona), Armando (Cádiz), Pinto (Celta), Arnau (Málaga), Riesgo (Real Sociedad) and Viera (Villarreal) all kept clean sheets, and they were joined later on Sunday evening by Atlético's Leo Franco, the only away team keeper not to let one in. There were 28 goals in all though, with Betis's Doblas letting in nine in four days after losing heavily to Chelsea and Málaga, and Zaragoza's César also being hit for five by high-flying Getafe.
