Zamoras

A busy weekend for goalkeepers, with 30 goals against, two sendings off and only three clean sheets. Palop's lead was whittled down to two, which could have been one had last season's Zamora Víctor Valdés not let in a last minute goal against Cádiz. Molina joined the Barça keeper in second place after keeping his goals against column to zero in an action packed local derby in Vigo, where Celta's number one Pinto got sent off after giving away a penalty in the first half. Esteban came on to make his league debut for his new club, but couldn't do much as the ten men were hit for three. Atlético's young keeper Falcón also got his marching orders late in the game at Mallorca after giving away a free kick outside of the area, forcing Leo Franco to make an appearance even though he wasn't fully fit. Elsewhere there were clean sheets for Cañizares as Valencia kept up the pace on the leaders, and Aranzubia as Athletic Bilbao finally climbed out of the bottom three. (19.12.05)
