Santi Cañizares
finally saw his unbeaten run come to an end after five games, Sergio
García's first half strike for Zaragoza putting an end to things. The
veteran keeper was obviously upset, as evidenced by the wobbly (and the
physio's kitbag!) he threw near the end. Meanwhile Víctor Valdés
moves two points clear at the top of our chart after a clean sheet in Mallorca,
and it seems that Barcelona's reputation for a shaky defence is now a thing of
the past. Three other keepers managed to maintain their goals against column to
zero in another high scoring weekend, including Athletic's Lafuente and Betis's
Doblas as their respective sides recorded much needed wins. Sevilla's Palop
(who was once leading our rankings) also managed a clean sheet for the first
time in eight games, quite a relief to him as well. (30.01.06) |
