Zamoras

Cañizares extends his lead again this weekend after another brilliant performance in the 0-0 draw against Iker Casillas's Real Madrid, last minute penalty save from Ronaldo included. The debate continues as to whether he should make Spain's World Cup squad as number three behind Casillas and Reina, but at the moment it appears to be a "no-brainer" as his main competitor Víctor Valdés let in another silly goal against Osasuna. Apart from Cañi and Casillas, only three other keepers maintained clean sheets this weekend, and that despite a low tally (20) of goals. That included Lafuente (Athletic Bilbao), Gorka (Espanyol) and Alberto (Real Sociedad), who made his first start of the season as coach Arconada finally opted for the veteran rather than young Riesgo. The move seemed to work as the Basques ended a run of four defeats in a row with a much needed win. Elsewhere Arnau, Palop and Ricardo all returned to their respective sides this weekend, the first after a long injury, the second to replace the injured Notario and the third after a one match rest under Javier Aguirre's rotation system.
