The surprise of the day was
the three goals that Recreativo put past Iker Casillas, leaving the Spanish
international down in fourth spot in the table. Both sides actually wanted to
call the game off after four Recre fans were killed in a coach crash on the way
to the ground, but the authorities insisted on it taking place and the players
dedicated their win to the grieving families.
With holidays on the horizon
it was a low scoring round of games, with 21 goals in all and no less than
eight clean sheets. The matches between Pinto's Celta and Bravo's Real
Sociedad, and Aranzubia's Athletic Bilbao and César's Zaragoza, finished
goal-less, and Kameni (Espanyol), Contreras (Betis), Palop (Sevilla) and
López Vallejo (Recreativo) also kept their goals against column to zero.
Aouate (Deportivo) and Prats (Mallorca) drop out of our chart though after
letting in four and three respectively. (22.12.06) |
