Zamoras

As reported last week, Pato Abbondanzieri was away on international duty this week (Luis García replacing him), and therefore won the Zamora prize by default. Under Soccer-Spain rules though, Víctor Valdés would have pipped him if he had kept a clean sheet at Nàstic, but Grahn's late consolation goal made sure he didn't.

It was an exciting last weekend though, with three teams fighting it out for the league title and four trying to avoid the two remaining relegation spots, and there were lots of goals all round (33 in total). In fact only three keepers managed to keep their goals against column to zero, and all were instrumental in helping their sides obtain their particular objectives, Doblas (Betis) and Aranzubia (Athletic) making sure their teams stayed up, and Viera contributing as Villarreal tied up a UEFA cup spot.

Doblas was brought back under caretaker coach Paco Chaparro, and there were two other changes, Gorka coming in for Kameni for Espanyol and Ricardo having to take over from Elía after the reserve keeper injured a hand midway through the second half of the match against Atlético. (18.06.07)
