Casillas won the battle over
Valdés as Real Madrid beat Barcelona 0-1 in the big derby game, although
the Barça keeper stays just ahead of his rival in the Zamora chart. As
well as Madrid, four other teams kept their goals against column to zero,
including Deportivo (Munúa), Betis (Casto), Valladolid (Asenjo) and
Getafe (with Abbondanzieri returning after a one match ban).
Diego Alves returned at
Almería for the suspended Cobeño, and three other keepers were
given their first run outs in the league, Coltorti at Racing, Mora at Valencia,
and Diego López at Villarreal. None really put in a good enough
performance to challenge the first choice number ones, although the decision by
Ronald Koeman to draft in Mora probably signalled the end of Cañizares's
career at Valencia, where he has been excluded from the squad together with
Albelda and Angulo. (24.12.07)
PS. One we forgot, Zaragoza
keeper César had to leave the field with an injury early on against
Valencia, allowing López Vallejo to make his first league appearance of
the season. |
