Real Madrid's forwards did
Casillas a favour this weekend, putting a brace past Toño in a 0-2
victory to bring the two level in the table. San Iker has never won the
prestigious Zamora award (given by the newspaper Marca each year), and if and
when his side have tied up the title Schuster may be prepared to give him a
rest to ensure he comes out top this season. Víctor Valdés still
has a say in the matter though, and he is only one behind the leaders after
Barcelona drew 0-0 with city neighbours Espanyol, for whom Kameni was once more
between the sticks.
Recent rumours have linked
Kameni to a summer move to several clubs including Tottenham and Valencia, and
the Ches could use someone after Mora (replacing the injured Hildebrand) let in
five at Bilbao. Cañizares is back in the fold though now that Koeman is
out, and he could even reappear next weekend. Other than Casillas,
Valdés and Kameni, there were clean sheets for three other keepers,
Aouate (Deportivo), César (Zaragoza) and Viera (Villarreal), who was
back in the side replacing the suspended Diego López. (21.04.08)
