A season high 33 goals this
weekend, with notable victims including last week's leader Diego López.
The Villarreal keeper had only let in three all season, but he was hit for four
on Sunday in a ding-dong 4-4 draw with Leo Franco's Atlético Madrid.
Almería's Diego Alves went one worse against the on-fire Barcelona, who
raced in to a 5-0 lead with less than half the game gone, but then took a bit
of a siesta, much to the keeper's relief.
Elsewhere Palop let in his
first goal in six games (nine in all competitions) as Sevilla fell to a
surprise 0-1 defeat at the hands of Málaga, although his consolation is
joint top spot in our chart together with Valencia's Renan. Six keepers did
manage clean sheets though despite the high scores, including Valdés
(Barcelona), Arnau (Málaga), Casto (Betis), Abbondanzieri (Getafe),
Moyà (Mallorca) and Cuéllar (Sporting), who appears to have
stopped the rot after his colleague Sergio Sánchez let in 19 in the
first four matches. (27.10.08) |
