Víctor Valdés
took a giant step towards tying up this season's Zamora prize after this week's
round of matches. Not only did he keep a clean sheet in the highest scoring
weekend for ten years, but his closest rivals were all hammered for big scores.
Valdés's team mates put four past Renan, Palop was hit for three,
Cuéllar let in five, and Aranzubia was the only other keeper not to let
in a goal.
Elsewhere there were two
goalkeeping changes this weekend, Roberto returning from injury to take over
from Ricardo in the Osasuna goal, and Justo Villar making his league debut for
Valladolid in the same match after Sergio Asenjo had to have a knee operation
earlier in the week. The Spanish under 21 keeper is expected to be out for
around three months. (08.12.08) |
