Barcelona kicked off the
second half of the season with their sixth clean sheet in seven games at
Sporting, taking Víctor Valdés even further clear at the top of
our chart. The midweek cup ties took their toll on the weekend's games, with
Codina's Getafe and Coltorti's Racing drawing 0-0, and De Gea's Atlético
Madrid losing 0-2 to Munúa's Málaga. Ricardo's Osasuna bounced
back from their cup defeat though with a 0-2 victory at Villarreal, a result
which cost the job of local coach Ernesto Valverde. Elsewhere Espanyol's
Cristian Alvarez clocked up his first clean sheet since stepping in for Kameni,
who will presumably take over again once he has had time to rest after the
Africa Cup of Nations. (01.02.10) |
