Zamoras

There we go then! Nothing short of a volcanic ash cloud floating in from Iceland could prevent Víctor Valdés from taking the Zamora prize for the third time after Barcelona beat Real Madrid 0-2 at the weekend. Even the Madrid press are saying that Valdés should be in Del Bosque's World Cup squad, but the coach has a reputation for being stubborn, and Diego López for example will take a bit of shifting after a third clean sheet in a row for Villarreal. Elsewhere relegation candidates Tenerife and Valladolid cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw, Aragoneses defending the local goal and new coach Javier Clemente opting for Justo Villar for the visitors after he returned in place of Fabricio following a one match ban. The Paraguayan keeper only lasted half the game though before injuring himself, and Clemente preferred Jacobo rather than "Fabri" as his replacement. Three other keepers, Kameni (Espanyol), Codina (Getafe) and Ricardo (Osasuna) also kept their goals against columns to zero in what was another relatively low scoring weekend. (13.04.10)
