Anyone old enough to
remember when Iker Casillas and Víctor Valdés both missed a
league game on the same weekend? Thought not! This week they did though,
Adán making his first league start for Real Madrid after Casillas was
sent off last week just one game short of 100 in a row, and Pinto stepping in
for Valdés after he picked up an injury in training. The Barcelona
keeper had made 61 straight league appearances, and he may be out for a week or
two before probably returning for the Champions League game against Arsenal.
Sevilla's Palop also missed out again this weekend after picking up another
injury, Javi Varas his able deputy for the sixth time this season, and
Málaga's new signing Willy Caballero made his debut for his Pellegrini's
side, the fifth keeper the team have used in the current campaign. Adán
and Varas in particular kept clean sheets in the lowest scoring round of games
this year, and De Gea (Atlético), Ricardo (Osasuna), Toño
(Racing), Bravo (Real Sociedad), Cuéllar (Sporting) and Guaita
(Valencia) also kept their goals against columns to zero this weekend.
