La Liga finally kicked off on what was week 2 after the first weekend was postponed, with Víctor Valdés and Casillas immediately renewing their rivally. Both clocked up clean sheets on their opening matches to start us off as we probably mean to go on. Three other clean sheets as well though, for Aouate (Mallorca), and two new faces Casto (Betis) and Courtois (Atlético). The Belgian keeper, who is on loan from Chelsea, was preferred to Spanish under 21 keeper Joel, the man who played in the Europa League qualifiers. Last year's incumbent De Gea is of course now playing for Manchester United. Osasuna coach Mendilibar suprised everyone leaving Ricardo at home for the trip to the Calderón stadium, with Riesgo starting between the sticks. He had to go off a minute before half time though, and his replacement Andrés did more than enough to establish himself in the starting line-up as the game ended 0-0. (30.08.11)
