Another clean sheet for Víctor Valdés on Saturday, although that will be one he would prefer not to remember as Barcelona were held to a 0-0 draw at Diego López's Villarreal. Another two points dropped, and Real Madrid are now seven points ahead of his side in the table. Only a couple of other keepers succeeded in not letting in goals this weekend, Courtois in Atlético's 0-1 win at Osasuna, and Kiko Casilla in Espanyol's 1-0 victory over Mallorca. Casilla started the season as third choice, but since taking over from the injured Alvarez three games ago he has yet to be beaten in the league. His opposite number Aouate was not having a good day though, and after crashing in to his own defender and dropping the ball for Weiss to score the only goal, he was sent off rather unfairly at the start of the second half for what the referee considered to be a foul on Rui Fonte. Cup keeper Calatayud came on after that for his first league appearance. Elsewhere Rayo keeper Dani Jiménez was also in the wars, an injury soon after the interval in the match against Athletic Bilbao forcing him to give up his place to Cobeño. (31.01.12)
