The goalkeeping world was shaken this week when Víctor Valdés announced that for personal reasons he will not be staying on at Barcelona after his contract ends in summer 2014. Although there are still 18 months to go, Barça have already been thinking about replacements, and whether or not it had any affect at all, the league leaders lost their first game of the season at Real Sociedad not long afterwards, Valdés himself letting in three. Courtois was one of the several names mentioned as a possible replacement, and the on-loan Chelsea keeper has now gone over ten matches without letting in a goal in Atlético's Calderón stadium after his team beat Levante 2-0 on Sunday. Courtois joins Caballero at the top of our chart, but "Saint" Iker Casillas is within a shout of the leaders as well after Real Madrid thrashed Valencia 0-5. It remains to be seen though whether Mourinho keeps him in the league line-up, or reserves him for the only two competitions Madrid could realistically win this season, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. Elsewhere there were clean sheets for Roberto (Granada) and Dani Hernández (Valladolid), and Palop returned to the Sevilla side in place of Diego López under new coach Unai Emery, albeit with mixed results. Mallorca's Rubén Miño also got a run out for half an hour after Dudu Aouate went off with an injury at Espanyol, and it remains to be seen whether Caparrós chooses him or Calatayud as the Israeli keeper's replacement during the month or so that he is expected to be out.
