Our two leading keepers both let in goals this weekend, Willy Caballero being beaten twice in a 2-3 win at Mallorca, and Courtois three times in a 3-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao. Iker Casillas was not able to take advantage however as he broke a thumb clashing with his own defender Arbeloa in the midweek cup quarter final against Valencia, and he is likely to be out for two or three months as a result. That gave Adán another chance to shine, and he clocked up a much needed clean sheet in Madrid's 4-0 win over Getafe. Whether or not the youngster will be given a regular place in Mourinho's starting line-up remains to be seen though, with the club moving urgently to sign Spanish international Diego López from Sevilla, himself a former understudy of Casillas at the Bernabeu stadium.

Sevilla themselves were left without a first team keeper this weekend as a result after Palop picked up an injury as well, and Julián Cuesta was drafted in from the B team to fill the gap. He too put in a good performance in a 3-0 win over Granada, and he may now stay in the first team as a result. Clean sheets too for Kiko Casilla (Espanyol), Roberto (Zaragoza), Rubén (Rayo) and Iraizoz (Athletic) in an otherwise high scoring weekend, and one other change between the sticks, with Mallorca's Calatayud preferred to Rubén Miño as replacement for the injured Aouate in the aforementioned game against Málaga.
