The big game this weekend was between the two Madrid sides, Atlético and Real sharing the points in a 2-2 draw which kept Ancelotti’s side at the top of the table. That allowed Valdés to close to within one goal of Courtois after Barcelona beat Almería 4-1 in the last match on Sunday evening. Otherwise though it was another low scoring weekend, with only 13 goals in the other eight games, and that included four for Iraizoz’s Athletic Bilbao in their 4-0 win over Granada on Friday evening. As well as Athletic, another six teams kept their goals against columns to zero, including Elche (Manu Herrera), Espanyol (Kiko Casilla), Levante (Keylor Navas), Rayo (Rubén), Sevilla (Beto) and Getafe, Moyà having to go off with a serious knee injury on the hour mark to be replaced by Codina. First opinions are that Moyà will miss the rest of the season, and the club are sounding out Celta’s under 19 international Rubén Blanco as a possible replacement. (04.03.14)
