This just hasn’t been Beto’s week! The Sevilla keeper only lasted half the game against Espanyol a week or so ago before going off injured, and on Wednesday he managed even less, having to be replaced once again by Sergio Rico after a horrendous collision with Real Madrid’s Benzema in the match postponed from day 16. This time though the damage was much more serious, and although he will not in the end have to go through a surgical operation, the injury to his shoulder is likely to keep him out for a couple of months or so. Emery opted for Rico again at the weekend rather than Barbosa, and it looks like the youngster will be first choice, at least until Beto finally returns.

Elsewhere there were four clean sheets in an otherwise high scoring weekend, the most notable of which for Atlético’s Moyà in a 4-0 win against Real Madrid. It was a sixth clash this season between the city rivals, and Simeone’s side have yet to lose. Fabricio (Deportivo), Sergio Asenjo (Villarreal) and Tyton (Elche) all kept their goals against columns to zero as well, and there were two other goalkeeping changes, Espanyol’s Pau López coming in for the suspended Kiko Casilla, and Getafe’s Jonathan given a first run out after good performances in the cup.
