Last season there were eleven clean sheets on the opening weekend of the season, but this year there were only two, Real Madrid’s Kiko Casilla (standing in for the injured Keylor Navas), and Serantes, who helped Leganés to a win at Celta in their first ever season in the topflight.

A couple of changes since the end of last season, Ochoa switching from Málaga to Granada, and ex Atlético and Zaragoza keeper Roberto drafted in at Espanyol, and the likes of Andrés, Diego Mariño, Rubén and Yoel all changing clubs, but not featuring in the opening round of games. Pacheco (Alavés) and Nauzet (Osasuna) made their first division debuts, and Guaita (Getafe) and Juan Carlos (from Rayo to Elche) have dropped down a division. More moves are expected however before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, in particular at Barcelona, with Claudio Bravo about to sign for Manchester City, and Ajax keeper Cillessen being lined up as his replacement.
