We have a new leader in the race for this season’s “Zamora” award, Sergio Asenjo displacing Oblak after Villarreal beat Betis 2-0 on Sunday, and Atlético lost 2-0 at Real Sociedad the day before! Asenjo was one of seven keepers to record a clean sheet on a relatively low scoring weekend, the others being Rulli (Real Sociedad), Pacheco (Alavés), Raúl Lizoain (Las Palmas), Keylor Navas (Real Madrid), Diego López (Espanyol) and Kepa (Athletic Bilbao). Kepa was back in the side under Valverde’s rotation policy for his three keepers, whereby he is giving a month each in the league to the Spanish under 21 international and to Iraizoz, and playing Herrerín in the Europa League ties. One other change as well, Celta’s Rubén Blanco (a colleague of Kepa’s in the under 21 squad) given a run out by Berizzo in place of Sergio Alvarez. (07.11.16)
