The debate continues about who is going to play in goal for Real Madrid this season, Keylor Navas, just voted the best goalkeeper in last season’s European competitions, or new signing Courtois, voted the best keeper in the World Cup. Quite a choice to make for Julen Lopetegui, although he gave a hint when he drafted in Coutois this weekend for his first appearance against Leganés after preferring Navas for the opening fixtures. No other changes in the eight remaining games (the match between Rayo and Athletic was postponed to building deficiencies at the Vallecas stadium), with clean sheets for five keepers, Soria (Getafe), Masip (Valladolid), Bono (Girona), Sergio Alvarez (Celta), and Pau López (Betis). Spare a thought as well for Huesca keeper Axel Werner, who was hit for eight by Barcelona. His side did manage to get the first two goals past Ter Stegen this season in reply though, which means that Masip, second understudy to Ter Stegen last year, is our new leader! (03.09.18)
