International Matches - Under 19

Under 19 friendly tournament

Spain's under 19 side were invited to take part in a friendly tournament in Austria in mid-October together with the hosts, England and Italy. The youngsters drew all three of their matches, starting with a 1-1 result against England. Real Madrid's Adrian González (son of Castilla manager Michel) put them ahead, but an Omar own goal right at the end deprived them of victory. The second match was against Italy, who had won their opening match, but although Berrocal headed against the bar, the game finished without goals. The third match was against the home side, with Mallorca's Emilio Nsue and Espanyol's Barrocal twice putting them ahead before their opponents fought back to 2-2. Italy won the tournament, with England second and Ginés Meléndez's side third. (11.10.06)
