Friendly Fixtures

Although clubs have a busy calendar once the league and other competitions commence, there will be several friendly matches whenever time allows. We set out below details of those games which have come to our attention. Please bear in mind that all dates are provisional and are subject to change at short notice. Matches already played in red, games pending in blue, changes since our last update in bold. For last summer's pre-season games see separate section. (18.05.14)

28 - 30 Dec Regional matches
Regional matches normally take place during the festive break, with teams from the autonomous regions playing international fixtures. Once again Euskadi and Catalonia seem to be the only ones to organize games this year though, Euskadi playing Perú in the new San Mamés stadium 28/12, and Catalonia meeting Cape Verde in the Olympic stadium in Barcelona on 30/12.

30 Dec Champions for Life
Charity match organized by the LFP and UNICEF played in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, with the presence of many top names from La Liga, including Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Courtois Carlos Vela, Giovani etc. Two teams, East & West, played three sessions of 30 minutes.

2 Jan 2014 Real Madrid v Paris Saint Germain in Qatar
Friendly game arranged between Real Madrid & PSG in Qatar during the winter break. Madrid won 1-0 with an early goal by Jesé.
Mid Jan XXIX Maspalomas trophy
Winter trophy involving European club sides, which returned to centre stage a couple of years ago after a two year lay-off. Tournament takes place in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria (Canary Islands). Augsburg beat PSV Eindhoven 1-0 in the final, with Shanghai Esta Asia taking third spot after winning a penalty shoot out against Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
