Ayza Gámez upset a
few people on Sunday when he sent off two players in the game between Deportivo
and Mallorca. Local striker Omar Bravo was the first to go for a challenge on
visiting keeper Moyà, even though they both went for a 50/50 ball. True,
Moyà rolled around a bit, and there was some argy-bargy between players,
but a red was way over the top. He then sent off David Navarro for a second
bookable offence, which also seemed a bit harsh.
Whatever the case Ayza tops
our chart this week, having produced ten yellows as well as the two reds. A
high tally, but not particularly exceptional in Spain. It's a good job they
don't copy England's Premier League, where Manchester United were fined 25,000
pounds for picking up seven bookings. If you did that over here, most clubs
would be bankrupt by now! (23.09.08) |
