Something certainly upset
referees this weekend! Maybe it was the sudden rush of hot air in Spain, or it
could be just that the pea fell out of their whistle and they couldn't afford
another one in the economic crisis? Whatever the case they managed a massive 83
yellow cards and twelve reds between them in the ten games, some 20 cards
higher than any previous weekend this season.
The highest tallies were 14
yellows and a red by Delgado Ferreira in a bad tempered local derby between
Barcelona and Espanyol, and twelve yellows and three reds by Velasco Carballo
in the match between Mallorca and Racing. Elsewhere Pérez Burrull
produced nine yellows and a red just to Valencia players at Deportivo, which
must also be something of a record! (24.02.09) |
