Third round matches

For the first time since the league stage was introduced, two Spanish sides were knocked out in round two. Double champions Sevilla and debutants Racing Santander can now concentrate on domestic competitions, and only Deportivo La Coruña and Valencia were in today's draw. The fixtures involving those two teams are set out below, and the draw was also made for the fourth round, with the following pairings:
