First round matches

Sevilla and Celta qualified for the UEFA cup as Spain's fifth and sixth placed sides in the league, and Espanyol will also be taking part as cup winners. All will be trying to qualify for the second round, which will be played in a mini-league format once again this season. The first round draw takes place on 25th August. (01.07.05)

Osasuna will also be playing in the UEFA cup this season after they were knocked out of the Champions League by Hamburg. (22.08.06)
