Valencia got the result they wanted on Tuesday night, a 3-0 victory against Glasgow Rangers taking them above the Scottish side in their group table. Rangers had not won once in Spain in eleven previous minutes, but they almost took the lead when Naismith ran through to fire a shot against the upright. A few minutes later though McGregor had to be on his toes to save from Mata, and with just over half an hour on the clock Soldado picked up a loose ball in the area following Mata's corner to score.

McGregor was in action again after the restart to save a header from Aduríz, and although César had to keep out Miller on a rare breakaway, Soldado got his second of the night a few minutes later. Naismith hit the post again with a header after that, but with the game coming to a close Tino Costa slid in the third to put the result beyond doubt. If Emery's side win their next game at home to Bursaspor, and Rangers fail to do so against Manchester United, Valencia's visit to Old Trafford for their last game will be academic.
