Barcelona are through to the quarter finals after beating Arsenal 3-1 in their second leg match. For most of the first half the English side sat back to defend their first leg lead, and it was not until just before the half time whistle that Iniesta won the ball of Cesc and slipped a pass through for Messi to juggle the ball past substitute keeper Almunia and score. Soon after the restart though Busquets headed a Nasri corner past his own keeper, and it was back to square one. Arsenal were left with ten men though when Van Persie was shown a harsh second yellow card for ignoring the referee's whistle. And although Almunia made a couple of good saves from David Villa, he was beaten with twenty minutes to go when Iniesta and Villa combined to put Xavi through. Two minutes later Messi scored a third from the penalty spot after Koscielny brought down Pedro in the area, and Messi, Afellay and Dani Alves all had chances to increase the lead after that. One goal from the visitors would have taken them through on the away goal rule though, and only a last gasp tackle by Mascherano prevented Bendtner from sending the local fans home disappointed.
