Little over a week to go to the close of the transfer window, and Real Madrid are still hogging the limelight. With the signing of Carvalho and Özil, Mourinho's squad is almost complete, although Mou would like another striker to join Higuaín and Benzema before the end of the month. The problem though is overbooking in midfield, and somebody has to go, if only to enable Özil to have a shirt number! Drenthe (Benfica?), Diarra (Fenerbahce?), Van der Vaart (Wolfsburg, Man U?), Lass (Tottenham?) and Gago (Man City?) are all candidates. Meanwhile Chelsea have responded to Madrid's failed bid for Drogba with an attack themselves, reportedly offering €40 million for Sergio Ramos, a deal which would double his current €5 million salary. Ramos is apparently not happy that he gets less than half of the €12 million being paid to Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaká, and at least wants to match the €10 million that his club captain Casillas gets. The club say he is not for sale, but the offer is tempting.... (22.08.10)

Tziolis (GRE) Siena (ITA) Racing Santander MF Another World Cup player comes to La Liga. Have signed Greek international on loan with buy-out option at end.
Ifrán (URU) Danubio (URU) Real Sociedad FW Paid €1.5 Mio to sign striker, although injury will keep him out for a couple of months. Danubio keep 25% of transfer rights.
Sarpong (HOL) Ajax / NEC Breda (HOL) Real Sociedad MF Have agreed terms with Ajax for young player, who was on loan for a few months last season at Breda.
Valdez (PAR) Borussia Doertmund (GER) Hércules FW Have signed international forward on four year deal. Reported fee of around €4 million.
Sarr (SEN) Standard Liège (BEL) Hércules DF Ex Milan central defender is seventh signing for newly promoted club. Joins for three years.
Del Horno / Nacho González (URU) Valencia Levante DF / MF No room in squad for either after returning from loans, so move back out. First loan of players to city neighbours in 15 years!
Javi Venta Villarreal Levante DF Contract not renewed this season, so agrees one year deal with newly promoted side.
Lolo Sevilla Osasuna DF Reports coming in as we go to press that he is on his way for medical prior to signing. Has not played much for Sevilla since going up from B team.
