Champions League qualifier, second leg

Sevilla 3 - Sporting Braga 4

Sevilla are out of the Champions League! The Andalusians fell to a shock 3-4 defeat at the hands of neighbours Sporting Braga, and they will now have to make do with a place in the Europa League. A goal down from the first leg, the tie was virtually over when Matheus and half time substitute scored two more with less than an hour gone. A mistake by keeper Felipe let in Luis Fabiano to get one back, and with six minutes to go Jesús Navas levelled the scores on the night. They still needed two more though, and as they pushed desperately forward Lima took advantage to score two more to complete his hat-trick before Kanouté completed the scoring. Coming just three days after losing the Super Cup to Barcelona, Sevilla's season is already ruined. President Del Nido said he was still keeping faith with Alvarez, but it remains to be seen for how long. (24.08.10)
