Villarreal made all but sure of a place in the league stage of the competition after beating Dnepr Mogilev 5-0 in their first leg tie. New boys Marchena and Borja Valero both scored on their debuts, the former just ten minutes in from Borja's corner, and the latter on the half hour mark after Cazorla had already scored a second. By half time they were four up, Cani adding to his two assists with a goal himself after Bruno set him up. And although they slowed the speed down after the restart, Nilmar added a fifth with an impressive shot to make the return leg in Belarus a mere formality.
