Getafe fell to a second defeat in a row at the group stage, and they ended the day out of the qualifying positions. Michel left several of his key players out of the line up, but the replacements were not able to produce the form of the first choice players. Stuttgart took the initiative right from the start, and Ustari was called upon to save from Marica and Kuzmanovic before Marica finally beat him at the second attempt with just under half an hour gone.

The keeper had more work to do before the half time whistle, and Michel made two changes at the break. Little changed though, and in the first quarter of an hour after the restart Marica, Cacau, Kuzmanovic and Camoranesi all missed chances. It was not until Colunga came on that Getafe finally got close to Ulreich's goal, Colunga having an effort cleared by a defender and Manu shooting straight at the keeper. A disappointing performance, but let's hope they do better when they get the German side back to Madrid in a couple of weeks' time.
